In the days of subsistence farming, farmers grew crops predominantly for the survival of self and kin. This however attended to immediate needs which were barely a solution to a bigger challenge – economic growth. Farming in Nigeria was ‘usurped’ by the advent of Crude Oil into the economy. With the current entrepreneurial minds refocusing their efforts into agricultural ventures, the government should come on board in ensuring that the ‘glory’ days of agricultural excellence are brought back.
